The Colour Mood of Spring/Summer 2026 – 2027
Spring arrives, colours are exciting again, the layers become lighter, the days a little longer, and suddenly those darker winter tones start making way for something fresher.
For Spring/Summer 2027, the colour story is wonderfully varied. We have Luminous Blue, Clay, Meadowland Green, Energy Orange and Pop Pink, and rather than feeling like five colours fighting for attention, they create a surprisingly balanced wardrobe. Some are grounding, some energising, and some are simply there to make us smile.
Luminous Blue: The Confident One
Let’s begin with Luminous Blue, named by WGSN and Coloro as their Colour of the Year 2027. Deep, vivid and beautifully saturated, this isn’t your quiet summer blue.
Wear it as a flowing dress with metallic sandals, or pair a Luminous Blue shirt with crisp white trousers. If head-to-toe blue feels like a little much, a handbag or shoe gives you just enough.
It has confidence without feeling complicated. We like that.
Clay: The New Neutral
Clay brings everything back down to earth.
This dusty, softened pink-brown works almost like a neutral, which makes it incredibly easy to wear. Think linen trousers, relaxed tailoring, soft cotton dresses or a lightweight summer jacket.
Pair Clay with cream for something gentle and elegant, or introduce Luminous Blue for a much more interesting contrast. It’s rather like terracotta pots against a bright blue Cape sky. Somehow, it just works.
Meadowland Green: Naturally Easy
Meadowland Green has that slightly muted, botanical quality that immediately feels connected to nature.
Try it in a linen shirt dress, wide-leg trousers or a lightweight knit for cooler spring mornings. It also works beautifully with Clay, creating an earthy combination that feels calm without becoming dull.
And perhaps that’s its charm. It’s green, but not an obvious green.
Energy Orange: Bring the Sunshine
Then along comes Energy Orange, and well, subtle it is not.
This colour is joyful, warm and made for summer. A flowing orange dress feels wonderful for a long lunch, while an orange blouse paired with denim gives an everyday outfit instant personality.
Not ready for the full look? Try a sandal, bag or scarf. A little orange goes a surprisingly long way.
Pop Pink: Pure Playfulness
Finally, Pop Pink brings sweetness without becoming sugary.
It works beautifully in feminine dresses, relaxed shirts and statement accessories. Pair it with white for something fresh, or unexpectedly with Meadowland Green for a playful combination that feels distinctly new.
The bigger story here is choice.
Spring/Summer 2027 isn’t asking every woman to suddenly become obsessed with bright colour. Instead, this palette gives us room to move between calm and confidence, earthy and energetic.
Wear one. Mix two. Add just a flash of another.
After all, colour should never feel like homework. It should make getting dressed a little more fun.
